MP35N and Tungsten Heavy Alloy Components Utilized as Critical Parts for Systems on Artemis II
Elmet Technologies, the sole U.S.-owned and vertically tungsten and molybdenum manufacturer, today announces its continued support of NASA’s Artemis program.
Following the successful deployment of components on the Artemis I mission, Elmet Technologies has again supplied high-performance materials and precision-machined parts for the Artemis II flight.

As the first crewed mission under the Artemis program, Artemis II represents a significant milestone in lunar exploration. Elmet Technologies’ contributions to this mission leverage the specialized capabilities of its multi-facility domestic manufacturing footprint across the United States.
Key contributions to the Artemis II mission include:
- Precision MP35N Components: Manufactured at the Elmet Technologies facility in Euclid, Ohio, these high-strength, corrosion-resistant parts are engineered to withstand the extreme environments of space flight.
- High-Density Tungsten Heavy Alloy Materials: Produced at the manufacturing headquarters in Lewiston, Maine, these materials utilize Elmet Technologies’ decades of expertise in refractory metal processing and advanced powder metallurgy.
“Elmet Technologies remains committed to advancing the frontier of aerospace innovation,” said Derek Fox, Chief Executive Officer of Elmet Technologies. “Our involvement in Artemis II underscores our role as a supplier for mission-critical applications where precision and material integrity are paramount. We are honored to continue supporting the next generation of space travel from our U.S. facilities.“
Elmet Technologies’ integrated approach, spanning from material synthesis to final part machining, can achieve compliance with the most stringent aerospace specifications, including AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards. By providing domestically sourced, high-performance refractory metal solutions, Elmet Technologies continues to aid the resilience of the United States’ aerospace supply chain.
